The American public is turning into a mob

aig-ceo1. AIG CEO unfairly gets killed by lawmakers - There was so much grandstanding yesterday it was baffling.  The AIG CEO who appeared before a congressional panel came on last fall at the REQUEST of the government to try and fix things at that company.  He gets paid a dollar a year, wasn’t on board when those contracts were signed, and yet the idiot lawmakers STILL read him the riot act while he was sitting there.  What the hell do they think this is doing to the value of AIG?  It’s doing nothing to help confidence in the company.  And we’ve got 180 BILLION as taxpayers invested in it.  Sure it might “feel” good to slam them, but for God sakes think about what you’re doing before you grab the torches and pitch forks.  (From the Washington Post)

2. Oh, and the AIG bonuses are very small potatoes - We’re getting distracted folks.  While we all got angry, the banks continue to hang on for their lives.  What if they need more infusion of capital?  Good luck getting congress to bail them out now…  (From Marketplace)

3. North Korea guards cross into China to nab two US Journalists - Uh oh.  (From The Guardian)

4. Living Old in the US - Heartbreaking tough to watch piece from Frontline about how our technology and medical care is extending life in America.  And sometimes that’s not a good thing.  I had a hart time watching it last night on PBS, but, it’s one of those things you should probably see.
(From Frontline)

5. It’s Tournament Time! – I still don’t have my bracket in.  But the President Does!  (From ESPN, who hit it out of the park with this segment)
