bushcheneyrumsfeld1. Maybe Torture Wasn’t the last Resort - And just as bad if not worse: “Interrogators employed the techniques, which are notorious for producing bad intelligence, to get detainees to make statements linking Iraq and al-Qaida.” So if Mr. Cheney’s justification for water-boarding is that it gave us intelligence that prevented another 9/11 style attack, then what about the fact that it now looks like wars could (or already have been) started on false information that was gathered during those intense interrogations?  Back to square one folks.  (From Salon.com)

4. When it comes to economics… we are all nothing but Monkeys with sticks taking swipes at each other - “Their thesis is that the key to understanding depressions, and the ups and downs of the economy more generally, is psychology, which they call “animal spirits.” They relate this emphasis on psychology to the new field of economics called “behavioral economics,” which rejects the “rational man” model of conventional economic theory in favor of what its proponents consider a more realistic picture of human motivations and capacities.” … That being, we’re nothing but monkeys with sticks taking swipes at each other, trying desperately to save our own babboon rear ends from getting hung out to dry.  And we’re scared.  And need hugs.  (From The New Republic)
